Clear discharge after period & pelvic pain (08/26/2008 12:11PM)
For the past 8 months, I`ve had pain in my pelvic area around the area of my right ovary. This pain mostly happened before my period, during, and right after, but the past 2 months is happening at other times (and was horrible during my last ovulation) - it`s not constant, but comes and goes. The past 2 months I`ve also had clear discharge and a lot of it that starts right after my period and goes until my next period.

Pregnancy and birth control (07/23/2008 11:53AM)

My gynecologist`s office told me I should be off my birth control for at least 3 months before trying to get pregnant.

I looked it up, and there are no claims that getting pregnant while on birth control can cause birth defects - so what`s the deal? This is why most gynecologists suggest discontinuing hormonal contraception a few months prior to planning pregnancy.

Premenstrual spotting (07/07/2008 10:53AM)
The past two periods that I have had since being off the pill, I have noticed some spotting(brownish) 2-3 days before the actual period begins. I did ovulate(confirmed through BBT charting, and my luteal phase was 12 days long, with spotting starting on the 10 day this last time). I was on the pill for 9 years, and before starting the pills, I didn`t have any premenstrual spotting of any kind.

Birth control & Danazol (08/04/2008 10:04AM)
I was recently started on Danazol for pelvic pain that gets very severe. Is there any kind of birth control that is safe to use while on Danazol?

However, as a back up, there are some latex-free condom:

Trojan Supra- Non-latex

Lifestyles SKYN (polyisoprene) condoms

Both are FDA approved.

Could she be pregnant? (11/13/2007 03:20PM)

Not every vaginal bleeding is a menstrual bleeding popularly referred to as period.

Also of importance are concurrent symptoms: some women can tell whether and when they are having a menstrual bleeding, at times even before its onset.  It is most likely that your wife's last bleeding was not menstrual - quite possibly implantational, where the fertilized ovum reaches the uterus and burrows into its lining.

I have the Implanon, but still get periods. (11/02/2007 11:10AM)
Although for fertility control it matters little, best results in minimizing bleeding-related side-effects are achieved when the contraceptive is placed immediately after a menses.  The lining will then grow "old" to a point when it can no longer survive regardless of the hormonal influences. But when the ovaries are dormant and there is no synchronizing hormonal "signal to go", the lining will slough and come out in fragments, over longer period of time - sometimes ...

Abnormal mestruation (08/09/2007 01:12PM)
i started my period on july 24th and quit on the 29th. Statistically, the most common reason for menstrual irregularities is pregnancy, followed by failed ovulation, uterine masses, and certain endocrine (hormonal) imbalances not necessarily arising form the ovaries themselves. The exact cause of the problem as well as its significance can only be determined through careful gathering of history, at least a brief focused examination, and quite possibly some laboratory evaluations.

Prolonged period (09/26/2008 11:26AM)

Menstrual periods in young adolescents are often irregular. Clearly if the periods are longer than 7 days or remain heavy, your daughter should be seen by a women's health or family practice professional to determine if she is anemic or has other hormonal problems that may be influencing her menstrual cycles.

If she has a "normal" period and then two weeks later has a small amount of spotting, this could be the result of her ovulation and is not very ...
