Liver (09/07/2004 09:58AM) |
| Elevated liver enzymes mean that liver cells have been damaged. When alcohol causes liver swelling, this is known as alcoholic hepatitis. Alcohol is one of the causes but others include viruses, such as Hepatitis A, B, and C. Alcohol at regular high intake (2 drinks for men and 1 for women is recommended maximum daily consumption) will result in liver damage in time. | |

Paternal drug abuse and conseption (11/16/2005 07:46AM) |
| To the extent that drugs and alcohol lead to poor nutrition, this does influence sperm numbers and quality. Certain drugs like the opiates (heroin, Vicodin, codeine, Tylenol #3 etc,) can have an effect on sperm morphology (the sperm having a normal or abnormal anatomy) and motility (the sperm swimming normally). The one known class of drugs which CAN affect the fetus through the male partner is the class of drugs which causes genetic changes in the sperm - these are... | |

So frustrating (12/16/2003 09:21AM) |
| Dad let him know he didn`t want her there, said she needed to go to her family and get help and my brother needed to be with his family and get help.My brother says he can help her and continues to let her stay. I do not think there is anything "special" about amphetamine addiction that is relevant to your brother`s issues. Whether he was/is addicted to alcohol or heroin or cocaine or amphetamines, the behavior issues are going to be very similar... | |

Alcohol induced abdominal pain? (11/02/2007 02:45PM) |
| Remember, for those people who do not have drinking problems, "safe" drinking involves two or fewer drinks per drinking occasion for women and three or fewer for men. The blood alcohol level goes to 30 mg% per drink for a woman and 20 mg% for a man after EACH drink. it becomes pretty simple to do the math and realize that binge drinking like that you describe, puts people's blood alcohol level way above the safe range. | |

| I started using snorting cocaine when i was 15. I snorted so much that my nose would always bleed. Signed Depressed Young Woman Hello, To my knowledge, your head size would not shrink at that age. There are also maternal infections like Rubella, Cytomeglovirus, etc. that pregnant moms may get and the infection causes a smaller than normal head. | |

Sharp pain in the chest (05/01/2005 02:57PM) |
| The problem I have is that after smoking marijuna and a cigarette or sometimes just marijuana I have very sharp pains in my chest and the pain worsens when I try to breathe deep. Chest wall pain, which this would be, causes sharp pain that lasts seconds to minutes and will hurt with movement and/or deep breathing. Chest wall pain is not serious, but you would need to see your doctor to decide what is actually causing your pain. |
