Stress in Pregnancy (10/25/2001 03:27PM) |
| Well, I may have had a relatively normal level of anxiety before all of my reading, but now I find that I`m really "stressed" about not being stressed! Some research (mainly done in Europe) has shown that `severe stress and anxiety` can affect fetal behavior and fetal brain development. The studies usually studied women with major stress, such as occurs with major life changes (other than the pregnancy), severe emotional trauma (like a recent death in the family or abuse or rape),... | |

Nervous habit/disorder? (10/01/2001 10:01AM) |
| What is the disorder called that involves mostly women (I believe)-where they have the habit of pulling their hair out(one hair at a time). It is characterized by an irresistible urge to pull hair that results in reduced tension and some gratification, but can lead to significant hair loss. Most people with the illness usually begin pulling their hair before young adulthood. | |

Is it anxiety or something else (04/10/2008 01:49PM) |
| Hi, 42 year old female, four weeks ago I started experiencing what I thought was anxiety "attacks". this past Monday I felt the symptoms again - this time tightness in chest, hard to breath, numbness - I did go to a neurologist and had an MRI - Results: Non Specific White Matter and he said he needs to do another MRI with contrast. I read that Non Specific White Matter is a very common finding with MRI`s. | |

PMDD/Sarefem (01/16/2007 12:36PM) |
| I think I have PMDD and have been researching the medication called Sarafem. Does Sarafem act like the birth control as far as reducing the mentral bleading and the amount of days a woman is on her cycle? This is an anti-depressant, anti-anxiety medication in the class of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. | |

| For the last few weeks I have been getting very slight, sharp pains beneath the top or middle of each breast... This question has been forwarded by Women's Health: Certainly stress can exacerbate underlying medical problems, and a specific anxiety disorder, known as panic attacks, can have chest pain (usually with shortness of breath, anxiety, fear, sweating and other symptoms) as part of the attack. Yes, stress can make something worse, and can lead to common aches and ... | |

Paroxatine (10/30/2006 11:52AM) |
| Paroxetine (or Paxil) is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI), similar to fluoxetine (prozac) and sertraline (zoloft) among others. All the SSRIs may increase the risk of suicidality in children or teens with a severe depression, especially during the first month of treatment. The SSRIs also have potential for sexual side effects in both men and women, generally at higher doses and after taking the medication for a while. | |

Paxil dosage (09/22/2006 08:49AM) |
| I am a female retired R.N. and just turned 70. I noticed such god-awful sweating about two hours after I take it in the morning, especially if I`m exerting myself. My b/p is 120/76.How do I decrease the Paxil or is IT the culprit causing the intense sweating? I encourage you to contact your physician who can evaluate your medications in light of your medical history and your physical examination. | |

Is my dad a pedophile and more? (07/10/2006 12:07PM) |
| I turned around and saw that dad had taken a polaroid of my butt in which he explained in his own words (i don`t remember) that my butt looked nice and because it was tightened (from leaning over to my brother). The picture looked so horrible because so much of my skin was showing, even he made some kind of comment on how the picture did not look right. I see my dad wearing only his underware, scrambling in the dark from one side of the kitchen door opening behind the wall in which there is... | |

Panic & anxiety following betrayal (06/26/2006 01:41PM) |
| This is with regards to my mother aged 59. She has been a very cheerful and socially active individual but 6 months ago, she was cheated of a huge sum of money by a friend whom she trusted implicitly. Alprazolam (Xanax) is used for anxiety and anxiety related disorders, usually only for short periods of time. It may be difficult to make your mother do something she doesn't want to do at this point in time, but I would recommend you and other family members consider some family or ... | |

Social anxiety (03/15/2006 11:29AM) |
| For example, cognitive-behavioral therapy has been proven effective for treating anxiety disorders, and most therapist can offer this, but if you are looking for more unusual modes of therapy, you will need to screen potential therapists. Ask about the therapists training and experience in treating anxiety. If the first encounter really strikes you as bad, keep looking for another therapist. |
