Dental treatment (10/24/2006 04:25PM)
my gums are bleeding severly and recently my teeth started external decaying. At the age of 20, there is one type of gum disease that may affect younger individuals and may cause severe tissue loss in a short time. Thus, in addition to brushing/flossing regularly and using a correct brushing technique, you should work on your diet (no pop, etc.).  You should also have a regular check-up including professional dental cleaning.

Severe dental problem faced by my 22-month- (01/24/2006 10:20AM)

Tooth decay occurs when foods that bacteria can break down to acid are present in the mouth frequently. Patterns of severe decay, like your daughter's, do occur when children sleep with a bottle that has milk or any sweetened fluid. Other starchy foods like crackers and potato chips are also easily converted to acid and can cause tooth decay.

Will i have teeth in the long run? (09/26/2000 10:40AM)
Since i have a cavity in almost every tooth in my mouth, will i have any teeth by the time i`m old? However, teeth that are taken care of by regular brushing and flossing, use of topical fluoride and fluoridated water, as well as regular dental visits for checkups and cleaning will last a lifetime of 80+ years. This assumes the teeth are reasonably straight and the bite is good, diet is good, and there is no disease or trauma that harms the teeth.

Dry mouth (11/27/2006 11:14AM)
Fluid from saliva is used to provide fluid for other tissues, leaving you with a dry mouth.   If you wake up with a dry or sticky mouth, it means that you are dehydrated and need to consume more fluids.   So, for the 'average' American who requires 2000 calories per day, this would be 2000 ml (2 liters), or approximately 8 cups of fluid per day.

Dental sealants (08/03/2006 04:00PM)
I`ve only heard of dental sealants being applied to children. Although usually dental sealants are applied to children's permanent back teeth to prevent cavities, dental sealants can and are placed on the back (molar) teeth of adults to also prevent cavities.   Sealant placement for adults would be most advantageous for those who are cavity prone or have made a significant change in their diet (too many sweets) and/or in their  oral health care.

How to treat Toddlers teeth? (02/08/2001 04:16PM)
Taking care of a toddler’s teeth consists of brushing for them at least 2 times/day but after the child attempts to brush on their own. The dentist will thoroughly examine the child's teeth and provide helpful information about habits, diet and oral health care. Young children do not have the dexterity to clean their teeth well, but it is good to have children develop proper toothcleaning habits.

Cavities over rule again (06/30/2000 02:09PM)
My seven year old daughter has two teeth that are pretty much cavity holes. Baby (primary) back (posterior) teeth are important to hold space for the permanent teeth to follow, usually around age 10 - 12. There is great variation from child to child, however, regarding the need to hold space if the baby teeth come out early. Important considerations include exactly which teeth are missing, how big the permanent teeth are, how much space is present now, how early the baby teeth are lost, the...
