Stress and abnormal menstrual bleeding (08/05/2008 12:03PM) |
| I read the article about abnormal menstrual bleeding, but my question is related to abnormal bleeding and stress. Can stress cause changes in the menstrual cycle? The bleeding you are describing is called “spotting” and is usually due to some hormonal changes, which can be due to stress. | |

Orange colored menstrual blood (04/04/2008 01:50PM) |
| Now, having an IUD, I am used to having abnormal periods (ie, late, long, spotting before and after cycles, etc) but this time it seems strange. i usually spot for abt 5 days and then have a normal period that last ne where from 5-8 days) but it was light very light and my blood was ORANGE colored?!?!?! Bleeding can occur between periods due to hormonal factors, infection, irritation from the IUD, pregnancy, or an abnormal growth such as polyp or dysplasia. | |

Vaginal bleeding (11/20/2006 03:26PM) |
| Two months ago I bled for a solid month, only when I pee or have sex. The many causes of abnormal vaginal bleeding include infection, trauma, abnormal growth of cervical or uterine tissue, or precancerous changes of the cervix. Vaginal bleeding only when you wipe after urination or have sexual intercourse suggests a more external cause, since these are acts that involve manipulation of the vaginal entrance. | |

RE: Depo provera (03/15/2007 04:00PM) |
| There are many causes for abnormal uterine bleeding, without knowing the cause, I can't determine your options. Hormonal control with both estrogen/progesterone (birth control)will regulate the hormones and improve the bleeding. The depo provera causes ovulation to stop, which causes a disruption in normal hormonal changes. | |

Abnormal bleeding at my age (02/14/2008 03:11PM) |
| While eating sugar does not directly influence your menstrual bleeding, gaining too much weight can have a bad effect on your cycles. Women who are overweight are more likely to have irregular periods, heavy periods, and abnormal growth of the uterine lining that could even lead to cancer. The symptoms of fatigue, sadness, and crying are probably not directly related to the bleeding, but could be signs of depression, which can be triggered by many different issues... | |

Slimy brown discharge (06/30/2008 11:17AM) |
Last month I started taking the birth control pill loestrin 24. I took the first month of pills and now I should be starting my period, but instead I have slimy brown discharge. Is the abnormal "period" due to the birth control or the biopsy? The bleeding you experience on oral contraceptives is different than a normal menstrual cycle. | |
