Vaginal discharge and odor (03/20/2008 12:33PM)
A normal or physiologic vaginal discharge can be noticed at midcycle, or two weeks after the start date of your last menstrual period. As you get closer to the start date of your period, this discharge can become brown, typically 1-2 days before the start of menses.

A prolonged brown discharge (more than 3 days) is usually an indication that there is vaginal bleeding present.

Long menstrual cycle (05/15/2007 01:05PM)

However, a very important fact is that with lengthy and heavy flow, one is under a risk of developing anemia.  Shortage of blood components - mostly Iron - leads to insufficient ability to transport oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the tissues. Otherwise, waiting another week, as uncomfortable as it may be, should be of no danger.

Extended menstrual cycle (06/12/2006 01:43PM)
Normal for me is A light 2 o 3 day period, no cramps or anything, I must say Ive been very fortaniate. So when my next period came I expected a normal period but to my surprise, I am on my 29th day of being on my period, with the occasional day off from it.   When this absence of ovulation occurs the body has no clear rise and fall of the female hormones each month that signal the start and stop of your period.

Firbroids and treatment (08/28/2008 08:44AM)
I was recently diagnosed with fibroids adn a large cervical polyp. My doctor recommended removal of the polyp, a D&C and endometrial ablation, but could not dilate my cervix during the proceedure.   Having a D&C or removal of the polyp allows the tissue to be analyzed under a microscope to ensure that it is nothing serious.

MY daughter is 41 and having a Endometrial ablation done in office , and she thinks that she will not have any complications and that this proceedure will prevent pregnancy without the use of any form of contraceptive.

Endometrial ablation is a procedure that "ablates" or destroys the lining of the uterus where women bleed from.   It is important that a woman who undergoes ablation does not intend to get pregnant and uses some form of birth control to prevent this.
