Heart Health

Smoking and Your Heart

Smoking and tobacco use are major risk factors for heart disease. Smoking and tobacco use lead to many side effects in the body that both cause damage to the vessels of the heart and prevent adequate repair of the damage, such that the development of heart disease is accelerated. If you do not already smoke, it is important not to begin smoking. If you currently smoke, it is important to discuss quitting with your healthcare provider. Smoking affects not only your health, but the health of the people around you.
