Be Well: Young and Obese

The Be Well: Young and Obese documentary shares the stories of Northeast Ohio families and organizations that wrestle with the consequences of obesity every day, and explores some positive measures that have started to change the direction of this devastating epidemic.

  • One in three children in the United States is overweight or obese.
  • In Ohio close to 20% of children age 10 and over are obese.
  • Children who are obese are more than twice as likely to die before the age of 55.
  • One in three children born in 2000 will develop diabetes sometime in his or her lifetime.

From the womb to the school cafeteria, into our homes and neighborhoods, viewers explore the insidious nature of childhood obesity and the courage it takes to combat it. Doctors and public health experts also weigh in with advice and tips for parents committed to fight the fat.
