Constipation with nauesa and vomiting

03/10/2008

Question:

My daughter is 30 years old and is having a problem with constipation, nausea, and vomiting. She has been laid off from her job and doesn`t have insurance so I was wanting to see what the cause may be. She has tried stool softener, X-Lax, drinking prune juice and suppository and nothing is helping.

Answer:

For the constipation, over the counter Miralax works well as well as increasing fiber in her diet. The nausea and vomiting needs to be evaluated further. Unfortunately there is no way to answer this question without seeing her and discussing it with her further. Some medications may be the culprit if that applies to her.
