Breast nodule with neck nodule

05/08/2008

Question:

Hello – I am 38, post-menopausal and have been on HRT for 9 years. On a recent mammogram they found a 7mm nodule on my upper inner quadrant of my right breast. In addition, I have a larger nodule in my neck, that is hard like a rock and getting bigger. I noticed that nodule about six months ago. Is there a possibility they are related? They are having me go in for an ultrasound next week. Should I mention the neck lump as well? Thanks so much for your help!

Answer:

Although it is possible that these 2 nodules are related, it seems unlikely.  I think that you should certainly mention the neck lump when you go in, as this could require further evaluation.
