Ibuprofen after surgery?

03/23/2009

Question:

I just recently had surgery on my wrist, when discharged i was given vicodin to ease pain which is fine, but i want to go back to work so is it possible to take an 800mg ibuprofin instead? The doctor didn`t give me much info about when i can get back to work or what to take beyond prescripted meds.

Answer:

It depends on what kind of surgery you had. If you had any type of surgery that requires bone to be fused (bone fusion), the answer is NO. Otherwise, you may want to consult your doctor about the possibility of taking one tab 3 times a day after food.
