Green vision

04/17/2009

Question:

for the last 7 or 8 motnhs I have been “seeing green”. When I first wake up or when I significantly change the position of my head my vision looks like I am seeing thru a green filter. This is not a tinge but a significant green on everything I see, close or far vision and lasts for a period of seconds to a couple of minutes. My opthamologist couldn`t find anything; an MRI didn`t show anything. Should I assume this is harmless or pursue further?

Answer:

“Seeing green” is not a normal phenomenom. While there is certainly a great possibility that this may be absolutely harmless, it may be helpful to seek a second opinion with a neuro-ophthalmologist, a doctor who specializes in conditions affecting both eye and brain function.
