Post-nasal drip

I have been recently seeing an ENT doctor regarding sore throat upon awakening that has recently turned into what is presumably post-nasal drip. I feel an accumlation of mucus at the back of my throat, which is terribly uncomfortable and distracting. My physician has told me that I have a deviated septum. If allergy medication (which I have tried) does not work, what else can treat PND?

A sore throat in the morning and the feeling of mucus in the throat can be due to postnasal drip with or without allergy or laryngopharyngeal reflux. A thorough examination in the office may help guide the diagnosis. Allergy testing and/or an evaluation of the esophagus (barium swallow) may help to differentiate between the two etiologies.
