Uroxatral and Morning Erections

09/08/2009

Question:

I started taking uroxatral for a slightly enlarged prostate about 10 days ago which was causing UTIs. Now I am having very rigid morning erections every day which last for up to an hour. Don`t every remember getting them like this. Is this normal?

Answer:

Erection during the REM while sleeping is very natural and sign of healthy blood supply of sexual organs. Uroxatral is alpha adrenergic inhibitor and is not known for improving vascularity of the sexual organ but promotes improvement of urine flow and hence, better urine flow.
