How Do I Choose a Radiation Oncologist?

11/16/2009

Question:

I have the choice of close-to-home (St. Elizabeth South) radiologist or a UC Barrett Center radiologist. Will I need chemo, too?  How do I choose? I couldn`t get much info on St. E. Wondering what technologies each offers. My ENT didn`t know, and said it was a good question.

Answer:

One of the best questions to ask your treating physicians is how often do they see and treat your particular problem. If they report they only see and treat that problem once or twice a year, you might want to consider an opinion from some other center. The National Cancer Institute website can be a good resource to help you learn about current treatments for the problem, and additional questions to ask your treating physician.
