Arava

Question:

I started Arava 3 days ago and every night I get hot flashes. I never had them before I started Arava. Is hot flashes a side effect of Arava?

Answer:

Thank you for contacting NetWellness. Arava ® (Leflunomide) is an immunomodulatory agent that is used to slow or stop the progression of rheumatoid arthritis.

There are not any reports of hot flashes that have been reported with Arava. There is one case report of a patient having fevers while taking the medication. There is a rare side effect that if you experience any type of allergic reaction such as itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, or trouble breathing it is very important to notify your physician or prescriber immediately.
