My husband was diagnose with Left Renal Low Attenuation Lesion of 3.8 x 3.1 increase like boderline than of water since 2006. In 2006 he had a kidney stones that he desintregrate when urinate in the ER. They explained that the stones had left a small scar in the kidney. He does not have any symptoms it was discover recent because he develop in the right lower abdomen pain, but it diagnose as muscle strain. Do these cysts usually have to be operated on or could they be treated with medicines?

Answer:

Most cysts do not have to be treated in any way and do not cause any sort of problem.  If there is any doubt about whether the cyst contains blood or whether it might be malignant (which your husband’s does not sound like it is, since it has “low” attenuation), an ultrasound or CT scan can be repeated to see if the cyst has grown or changed in any way.
