Aching jaw, sore gums, ear and throat

06/04/2010

Question:

For the past 5 days I have experienced a dull pain in my upper right jaw along with sore gums (slightly inflamed but not swollen), and a tingling mild pain in my ear and the back of my throat, as well as snotty nose – all only on the right side of my head. The symptoms come and go, tending to be better in the morning and worse in the evening. Yesterday I thought it was clearing up and cancelled the doctor`s appointment I had made. But in the evening the symptoms returned. They don`t seem to get worse, just consistently bothersome. Do I need to get this seen to or can I take care of myself at home? (I will struggle to afford to see a doctor or dentist)

Answer:

Your symptoms may be due to a decayed tooth (cavity) or adult gum disease.  You might also be experiencing allergy or sinusitis.

If your symptoms continue, you should seek care.
