Mepivicaine and Enalapril Maleate

06/22/2010

Question:

I am having two teeth removed this week and m dentist is suggesting mapivicaine without anadrenalin? I take 20mg enalapril maleate tablet daily to control blood pressure. Is this a safe combination? Will i be ok?

Answer:

Thank you for contacting Net Wellness. Mepivacaine (Carbacaine®) and enalapril do not have any drug-drug interactions and can be used together for a procedure.

However, I encourage you to work with your primary care physician or cardiologist to make sure the clinician and your dentist have integrated your history, physical exam and electrocardiogram to develop an initial estimate of pre-surgery cardiac risk prior to your dental procedure.
