Pain Behind My Knee

07/12/2010

Question:

Over the weekend I was sitting on a raft chair and I went to get off the raft and all of the sudden the area behind my knees from the lower thigh to mid-calf started spasming, with the most intense pain behind my knees. This went on for atleast 12 – 15 minutes. I couldn`t move my legs at all. When it finally subsided, I managed to get to the dock and climb the ladder. The rest of the day my legs hurt some in the same area, but the next day the area was worse and today the area feels even more sore. Although the pain isn`t as bad if I am still, it is really bad if I get up or when I first start to move. If I touch the area where the muscle meets the ligament or tendon behind my knees it is very tender and to move really intensifys the pain. I am just wondering what caused this and what I can do to heal this and alleviate the pain?
