Question regarding urine protein levels
07/21/2010 |
Question:
I am a young woman who is currently in remission from breast cancer. I am completing a clinical trial with Avastin, and my last infusion was aborted due to high levels of protein in my urine (Total protein = 700 mg/dL and protein/creat ratio = 4120 mg/g). I am terrified that I will now have kidney failure due to these protein levels. Should I be seeing a nephrologist? Will I have permanent kidney damage?
Answer:
Protein spill in urine is an indication of damage to kidney. I would recommend that you consult nephrologist for evaluation of proteinuria.
