Microalbuminuria

05/27/2011

Question:

Can microalbuminuria be completely reversed? Which is best: lisinopril or losartan?

Answer:

Depending on the amount, it can sometimes be completely reversed.  Both lisinopril and losartan work by the same mechanism to reduce microalbuminuria; the choice of one or the other is often determined by cost and by side effects.  Lisinopril, while often cheaper, has some side effects such as cough, that may make result in the need to use losartan instead.
