Laryngitis Need a faster recovery
11/02/2011 |
Question:
I developed a upper respiratory cold or flu 2-3 days ago, resulting in partial laryngitis. I`ve conserved my voice as much as possible, but in less than 2 days I need to give three consecutive 8 hour lectures (24 hours total). Students are coming from as far as Asia, Oregon, Texas, etc. and no one else can take my place. What pro-active measures can I take now to improve my recovery so my laryngitis doesn`t return from the stress of lecturing?
Answer:
Maintaining good hydration would be helpful, ie drinking lots of fluids, and a brief course of systemic steroids, e.g a medrol pack, would help get through the demanding teaching schedule.
