Dr. Suchitra Nelson is a dental epidemiologist with a focus on studying special needs and lower socio-economic populations to reduce oral health disparities. Her research activities includes studying oral health problems in very low birth weight adolescents, and a clinical trial aimed at reducing dental caries in poor inner-city elementary school children. Dr. Nelson is currently an Assistant Professor in the School of Dentistry and has a secondary appointment in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in the School of Medicine. She is also a member of the Case Western Reserve University/Ireland Cancer Center, and a Senior Research Associate in the Bolton-Brush Growth Study Center. Dr. Nelson is widely published in both the dental and medical literature. She received her Bachelors in Madras, India, and her Masters and Ph.D. in Epidemiology from Case Western Reserve University.
