Question:
I am an african american and, I have a question. I am 29 years old and I am wanting to know when is a good age to get a prostate examination?
Answer:
It is recommended that African-American men begin having a prostate evaluation which includes a digital rectal examination and a PSA blood test yearly beginning at age 40. If one develops symptoms such as pain, blood on urination, a change in the pattern of urination, such as increased frequency, or difficulty initiating urination then he should see his physician at that time. I hope this information is helpful to you.
