Itchy nipple with brown discharge03/25/2008 |
My right nipple has been itching very badly for the past 3 days, and tonight I noticed a brown discharge coming from one duct? Should I be worried about this?
That type of symptom (brown discharge) does need to be evaluated by a surgeon; the itching is less medically concerning. Sometimes brown discharge suggests bleeding within a duct, and a biopsy may be needed. I would start with your primary care provider and update mammograms, but even if the mammograms are negative (normal) this needs further investigation to find a cause. Even though it may be benign (not cancerous), you need to get to the bottom of the problem.
