Knee pain04/24/2008 10:46AM |
I had a MRI in June and it says under impression:Cystic degenerative changes of the patella is noted which at the area of the cystic changes. Small erosion of the cartiliage is suggested of the patella. MRI of the right knee demostrates intact acl, pcl, menisci and both collateral ligaments there is degenerative changes involving the patella joint service. there is some small area of erosion of the patella cartliage adjacent to the sub conddylar cystic changes is noted as well as also involing the lateral superior aspect of the patella. What kind of treatment is there and what can I take for pain, as it is now botherning me on a daily basis.
Most importantly, the treatment course for your condition should be discussed with your physician who has examined your knee and can compare your examination with the MRI findings. Primarily, the report discusses degenerative or "arthritis" changes of the knee that are typical of wear and tear of the knee that happens with age. First line treatment is tylenol for pain and physical therapy/exercise. Also available for more advanced symptoms are cortisone or hyaluronic acid injections of the knee, anti-inflammatory medications and finally knee replacement as a last resort.
