Crowns Fitting Properly

12/30/2009

Question:

Hi Ive had crowns put on three implants on the top. When I floss, I feel that there is lots of space on the top of the crown. I can put my floss under the crown on the very top and it goes in very deep...is this normal or should the gum fit snug without a gap..thanks

Answer:

Really could be either one. Floss does often go deeper around implant crowns than teeth, but there could also be a fit or contour problem with the crowns if things do not seem right. If you have a question, seek another opinion from another dentist, prosthodontic specialist and/or a dental hygienist.
