High BUN/Creatinine Ratio02/08/2010 |
Is 22.7 ratio of BUN/creatinine ratio something to be concerned about?
Ratio results are misleading for renal function tests. Example; lets say that the BUN is 10 and the creatinine is 1.0. The ratio is 10. In this example the BUN and the creatinine are normal. Next example; BUN=100 and creatinine is 10. The ratio is also 10, but this is a patient ready to start hemodialysis. Provide the individual creatinine and BUN results for the best interpretation.
