Mental Health

Hallucinations

12/20/2010

Question:

I used to be best friends with a girl that stabbed me in the back and turned out to be a terrible friend. She was a big part of my life and we did everything together. Recently, even though I`m mad at her, I miss her. I have been seeing her a lot of places where we have been together. Sometimes I hear her sing or laugh and sometimes she talks to me. It feels real. Could this be sleep related? If not, why am I having these hallucinations?

Answer:

I think it is important that you get some mental health counseling to evaluate your concerns. Obviously the breakup was very serious for you, but a mental health professional needs to talk to you. Your history of physical and mental health problems, as well as your coping style and history are important for someone to be able to adequately assess and diagnose you and help you to recover.

Good Luck.
