What Are the Side Effects of Prednisone?
07/08/2010 |
Question:
I am being investigated for rheumatoid disease and am currently taking prednisone. I find some relief with this new drug in addition to the oxycocet. Of course, one of my concerns is the high sugar readings. (19ish) I am usually between 5 and 9. My main concern is wondering what the short-term effects will be (4 Weeks) on my body with consistantly high readings.
Answer:
The short term effect of high blood sugar readings is negligible, unless they are really high (over 500). You might feel a bit more tired, have to urinate more frequently, and be more thirsty, but other than these quality of life issues, there should be no long-term or lasting negative effects.
